The mirror is black

Idle is normal. Here is how to tell idle from off, and what to check when it is off.

Between appointments the display switches off on purpose and the glass is a plain mirror. That is idle, not a fault.

Is it idle or is it off?

  1. Open the LUX Mirror app and find the mirror under Devices. Online means it is idle and fine; pick a mode and the glass lights up within a few seconds.
  2. Offline, or last seen more than a few minutes ago, means it is not reaching the cloud. Go on to the checks below.

When it is off

  1. Check the plug at both ends and the outlet with something else.
  2. Unplug the mirror, wait ten seconds, plug it back in. The welcome screen appears within about a minute.
  3. If the welcome screen appears but the app still says Offline, follow the mirror is offline article.
  4. No picture at all after two power cycles: open a ticket with the support code. Do not open the back cover.
